Disappearing branch
http://maps.live.com/ and put in 6100 W 9th ave amarillo tx. I had to move the picture over to the left, then switch to aerial view and zoom in. When it goes from 150 feet to 80 feet, the library disappears!

You Want Pictures!

The circ desk as it was. Was being the operative word. It is history.
And that desk saw a lot of action over the 30+ years it was in place. How many items were circulated here? How many formats has that desk witnessed--just in music? LP's were the standard, then cassettes--bypassing the 8 tracks somehow--which brings us to CDs. When this desk was new, the circulation system was the Regiscope, which recorded an image of the book checked out with the date-due slip. Then, in around 1984, circulation moved to an automated system.

The new carpet.
That is all for now. I will post more pictures later. In the meantime please check out the library's MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/amarillopubliclibrary .
Thanks to Sam and Terri for information about the formats and circ systems of the past.
Cheers,
Melody
